Waveney Strings was founded in Beccles in 2008 in order to provide a friendly and supportive environment in which string players can improve their skills and, at the same time, enjoy making   music. A wide range of ability is accepted although some grounding would be useful. Ideal if you had lessons at school and the violin is collecting dust in the attic. There are opportunities for one to one tuition and the orchestra meets regularly on Sundays.  We aim to play any music that is reasonably accessible and has been arranged for string ensemble.  We also encourage people to get together informally in their own homes to play chamber music.

 New players are always welcome.

Strings in Greece
Sat 26 May – Sunday 3 June 2012

Strings in Greece offers a unique musical experience on the Greek island of Kythira, the southernmost of the Ionian islands. Unspoilt by mass tourism, Kythira offers a rich variety of beaches, villages and countryside. The music making mirrors Greek island life, with rehearsals in the morning and early evening, leaving plenty of time for walking, bathing, dining, drinking – and siestas. Greece in May and early June is a revelation to those who only know the country in summer – the air is fresh and all the hills and meadows are green and covered in wild flowers.
